Speaking after Manchester United crashed out to Sevilla after losing the second leg 2-1, Mourinho made the bizarre claim as he defended the team against criticism.
Mourinho said: “I don’t think the performance was bad.
“I’ve sat in this chair twice before with Porto, Manchester United out & Real Madrid, Manchester United out, so I don’t think it’s anything new for the club.”
Over the 180 minutes, United had just four shots on target and they were found wanting as Sevilla stunned Old Trafford with two second-half goals.
The result means United have just the FA Cup to play for this season and Mourinho has called on his players to respond.
He said: “Tomorrow is another day and Saturday is another match.
“I’m really happy every player is sad and they don’t hide that, that’s something that pleases me.
“But we have no time for dramas we have to work because Saturday we have an important match.
